Roger Federer insists he has still had a ‘positive’ season despite US Open exit

Roger Federer insists he’s still had a”favorable” season despite being not able to grow his own Grand Slam tally. The 20-time big winner had looked destined for a box-office final against Rafael Nadal in what could have become the terrific rivals’ first meeting at the usa Open but the Swiss superstar suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Grigor Dimitrov in the quarter-finals at Flushing Meadows. Dimitrov had obtained just two sets him off, and had not beaten Federer in any of the past seven games. Nevertheless, the Bulgarian secured the win of his career against the 38-year-old in five places on Tuesday under the Arthur Ashe lights. New from a reduction in the Tennis Club, the end to Federer’s run in New York raised concerns whether the 38-year-old could deliver on a Grand Slam title. “I do not have the crystal . Do you?” Following a reporter asked if he expected to win another Grand Slam title at his era, said the seed. “We know. I am hoping so, obviously. I think still it’s been a favorable year. Disappointing now, but I’ll get back up, I’ll be all right.” Federer laid out an aggressive program of competitions. “Laver Cup, Shanghai, Basel, possibly Paris, London. That’s the program for the time being. I really don’t know whether the team have other ideas or maybe not,” said Federer. “I’m delighted to get a small break today, return to practice, reassess and attack from there.” In four months, he’ll renew his effort to add at the Australian Open, where he collected his last name to his Grand Slam coffers. “(I have) got to take the losses.
