Ian Bell joins England U19s as batting coach for tri-series in Caribbean

Warwickshires Ian Bell will act trainer on England U19 tour of the Caribbean. Softball trainer Nic Pothas that is brand fresh, also bell, who played with 118 Tests for England will work a 50-over tri-series against West Indies U19 and Sri Lanka U19. The show is the last aggressive test for its players before the ICC U19 World Cup, which takes place at South Africa in January and February 2020. Most of the 16 players featured in the summertime Tri-series from Bangladesh and India, such as vice-captain George Hill and captain George Balderson. Sam Young and scott Currie encounter in the squad having revealed their possible for Dorset from the National Counties contest respectively, and in cricket for Hampshire and Somerset. Wicketkeeper Harry Duke, from Yorkshire, is also new to the squad and was selected off the back of performances using the gloves in the ECB Young Lions Super 4 Contest, in Addition to for Second XI and also its Yorkshire Academy. Announcing the team, Lewis said:With the World Cup on the horizon, which is our last opportunity to assess our squad and choose which 15 players to carry with us to South Africa. Weve also taken this chance to look at a few players who are relatively untested at this level and also have the opportunity to push their way to our own World Cup squad. Nearly half the group managed to secure county first-team looks this summer. Ben Charlesworth (Gloucestershire), Jack Haynes (Worcestershire), Jordan Cox (Kent), Dan Mousley (Warwickshire), Hamidullah Qadri (Derbyshire), Joey Evison (Nottinghamshire) and Tom Clark (Sussex) all had excellent growth experiences at the next level. Reflecting on the appointments Bell and prior Hampshire wicketkeeper Pothas, Lewis added:I am thrilled to welcome Ian and Nic to the team for both tours that winter. Following a thorough and recruiting process we decided that both trainers were the perfect match for the team and the programme at the stage in time. The experience they have can simply add value to the programme within the brief time period we have with the players. Ian is among his generations greatest run-scorers, whose knowledge and experience of playing under pressure at the greatest levels, including multiple World Cups is a great resource for the players to tap into and something that is not always readily available to them at county level. Nic has excellent experience in international instruction with West Indies and Sri Lanka and is a native of Highveld in South Africa, making him an ideal candidate to meet gaps in our understanding of our competitors as well as the conditions we will play in. Alongside that he is a brilliant fielding and wicketkeeping coach and that I expect him to make an impact on the skill execution within the field, an area Im very keen to improve with this number of gamers. As we found during the final moments of the summers World Cup, its a place that can make the difference between losing and winning trophies.
